Okay, I feel like a wuss, but it is tough to get up at six when it stays pitch black outside till after 7:30... *grumbles* Rassafrassin' time change. Let's go already.

Although I kind of hate when it gets dark so early in the evening after the time change, too...
The short days of winter are just unpleasant. The lack of light bothers me more than the cold.
Oh well...

I agree, Eppie! Hate it when it gets dark early.
GUYS I have a funny story that y'all will love. So I'm here in Florida, visiting my grandmother, and I was out running errands today. And as I was driving past the local mall, I happened to see the name of a side street just past the parking lot. Its name was...
JAVERT STREET. Not even kidding. I took photos, but I forgot my camera cable at home. *facepalm*

I was just listening to him on my walk!
I spent most of today giggling madly, so much so that I now have a headache. I don't really remember why, other than the group I was with was being... really random. All I recall with any certainty was that "Sweet zombie tchotchkes" is now the curse of choice. Oh, and this:
Me: If I ever have a son, his name will be boring, because it will be either Peter Miles or Miles Peter. After Vorkosigan and Lord Wimsey. He'll be very cool. Science fiction and mystery both. Kai: So he'll wear knickers and a cape?
I don't even know why that struck me as so funny, but it did.

Ah, good to know I'm not the only one who listens to musicals on walks! ;D Whenever I go out exercising, I always have one musical or another on my iPod. Can't listen to Jekyll & Hyde, though, I just laugh too hard. Oh, speaking of musicals on my iPod, anyone here seen Reefer Madness: The Musical? (Movie or stage?) It's so freaking funny! It's got some truly great songs and really spot-on political/social satire. I'm not sure how well-known it is, though. "Sweet zombie tchotckes" is an excellent phrase!

Oh, jeez, guys. I had a short story accepted in September, and it's due to be published tomorrow. I went to the site looking for where it was going to be, and spent ten minutes searching (increasingly frantically) for any hint. Nothing.
I forgot my own penname. I must have read over the thing eight times. *epic face/palm*

Are you happy or sad about that? I was kind of excited about our first snow, ridiculously early as it may have been. But I like winter. I like wearing boots.

Well, my first reaction was "Oh, pretty!" Unfortunately I couldn't go out and stand in it and catch a snowflake on my tongue like I usually do during the first snow of the year (yes, I'm a five year old). It took me by surprise. The trees outside the window where I was working were still covered in leaves that were green in the middle and rimmed with yellow, and the grass was still green, so it didn't really look like it was time for snow, yet, even though the clouds looked smoky and threatening. I was looking down at my computer screen when it started, and what caught my eye was a flurry of motion. I thought at first a gust of wind had pulled off a bunch of tiny leaves before it registered that I was looking at giant, fluffy snowflakes. Since the ground wasn't frozen, it didn't accumulate at all.
My next reaction was, I'll admit, "...crap." I think winter is snow can be beautiful, but my appreciation for it has lessened a bit now that I commute, have a car, and have to deal with shoveling our driveway. I hate having to scrape ice of my windshield in the mornings, and merging and driving on highways where everyone insists on going 70 even in the worst conditions makes me nervous when there's ice and snow.
I'm not a huge fan of the cold, though I do like scarves, but if it's going to be cold and dark, I'd just assume there be snow on the ground to brighten things up.

Greetings! No snow here, thankfully. I hate snow when there are still leaves on the trees ... well, actually, I hate snow. I probably won't mind it if/when I am retired and can enjoy it from the warmth and safety of my house, but that is a million years away.
Had a not-so-great week, but am in the midst of a three-day weekend, so things are looking up on that front. My NaNoWriMo project died, however ...

One of the cool things that happened last winter while I was living in the South: I actually saw the snow cloud form. It started this thin silver streak in the sky, and grew outwards in a matter of a few hours before it started falling. I've never seen that before, I thought that was pretty neat.
We're supposed to get our second snow sometime this week, I think. I'm down with that.
Sorry about your bad week, Sandi! Hope the weekend makes up for it.
