Anyone giving it a whirl this year? I actually finished it a couple of years ago, but it was the worst bunch of crap ever. I tossed the whole thing.
I'm still toying with the idea of a POTO/Chicago crossover ...

I'm signed up, and... how shall I put this? Freaking excited. My project is a sort of steampunk gender-swap Phantom crossed with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and A Midsummer Night's Dream, with accents by Chaucer.
This is, at least, what I'm telling people. Actual results may vary. All I know for sure and certain is there's a love triangle between the MC Erik, the masked woman Pavane, and one half of the traveling troupe's Siamese twins. The other half is a puppet. And the story is narrated by a skull.

Heh, thanks, Eppie. Things usually sound much better in my head than they do when I put them in front of other people. This one could have a lot go horribly, horribly wrong. I'm expecting the crushing sense of doubt to set in any day now.
Have you talked about the POTO/Chicago story, CH/Sandi? It sounds kind of familiar. (But then, at one point we were all throwing potential POTO crossovers all over the place.)

I have, Ran. I keep running different scenarios through my head ... Does she murder Raoul and the Phantom hires Billy Flynn? Can you see the Phantom and BF working together??? The Phantom could so do Mr. Cellophane ...
Or does she murder the Phantom, and it's Raoul to the (financial) rescue?

I'm going to try it for the first time...I've had the basic plot of a novel rattling around in my head, oh, probably since the old Papen days, and never got around to writing more than a beginning to it. I've already got 5,974 words pre-written and I'm going to try to get 50,000 more in November. I don't think I can tell the whole story in 50,000 words so I'm not too worried about finishing in that sense, just getting the word count up so I can finish the draft within the next couple of months and then get on to revising it to make it sound good! ...no idea where I'm going to find the time to do this. We'll see! Good luck all!

661 words! Woo Hoo!
[ETA]My Word Count after my first submission is 1291. I've written a bit more, but I'll probably wait until tomorrow to update again.
Favorite sentence so far: Back in her cell, Christine was stunned to see a red silk scarf lying on her bunk.

*bump*
So, how is everyone doing?
I can't say I'm doing NaNoWriMo because I'm not writing every day and have no particular goals, but I am making an effort to write more often. (I know, I have so little self-discipline...) Yesterday I started a project that's been knocking around in my head for a couple weeks and got... well, 614 words. Better than nothing, right?

Definitely better than nothing, Eppie. Yay for writing!
My project is going better than I thought, actually. I haven't hit a wall yet, I guess. The characterization is kind of cracking me up. I probably shouldn't have named my Christine character Erik.

Heh, glad to hear it's going well!
And my little project actually grew last night... 2,176 words now!

Way to go, Eppie! Mine has died, unfortunately.
There's always next year ...

Congrats, Eppie! That's great!
Sorry about your project, CH/Sandi... maybe it can be revived? If not... *strikes a pose* It will live on in our hearts until such a time as your nimble fingers breath life into the epic tale of the Phantom of Chicago, or whichever title it ends up with...
You're right, though. Always next year! That's what I like about November, it's pretty much guaranteed to come around again.
